About me

My Background

I trained at Otago University as a clinical psychologist and have been working for over 30 years within a variety of settings, including corrections, public mental health, private practice, and in an assisted reproductive (fertility) treatment clinic. I have extensive experience working with people who experience stress, anxiety, depression, infertility, workplace trauma, PTSD and when dealing with significant medical diagnoses. I also have considerable experience in providing support to people who work in inherently stressful roles.

My Approach

I use  cognitive-behavioural  (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) approaches within a bio-psychosocial framework. I work collaboratively with my clients to develop a treatment plan that best suit their needs.

I work with clients to focus on their strengths, assisting them to achieve their goals through the development of new skills and insight.

Qualifications and Professional Memberships

I have a Masters of Science (Distinction), a Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology and a Diploma in Business Studies.

I am registered with the New Zealand Psychologists Registration Board, and hold the Health Practitioners Competency Assurance Act (2003) Clinical Scope of Practice, and a current Annual Practising Certificate. I am a member of the New Zealand Clinical College of Psychologists (NZCCP).

I maintain my professional development through supervision, regular training and reading. I abide by the ethical guidelines of the New Zealand College of Clinical Psychology.

I am a Police approved psychologist.
