Privacy and Confidentiality

Clinical psychologists practice in accordance with the Psychologists Board Code of Ethics, the Privacy Act 2020 and the Health Information Privacy Code 2020. One principle is that we do not provide information about you to others / third parties without your consent. However, there are some exceptions to these guidelines. For example, if the psychologist thinks that you or another person may be in danger (e.g. they think you may harm yourself, harm someone else, or be harmed) they can tell other relevant people even if you say they cannot. A psychologist may also talk to their supervisor about what you tell them, but do this in a way which avoids identifying who you are.
